Simona Di Dio Martello will step into the Oktagon arena to face Ester Viola in one of the evening’s most eagerly awaited K1 rules bouts. The fight is scheduled for Saturday, December 5, at the PalaPellicone in Ostia, as part of “Oktagon 30 Years,” and will take place in the -50 kg category, one division above the weight class in which the Piedmont-born fighter normally competes.
Di Dio Martello arrives at the event with 22 professional fights, recording 18 wins, three losses and one draw. Trained by Fabio Giannelli at Torino Kombat, she won the K1 World Open in Milan in 2019 and subsequently captured the ISKA full-contact world title at -48 kg. She also recently won the ISKA Intercontinental -48 kg K1 rules title in Sicily.
Standing opposite her will be Rome-based Ester Viola, who has 25 professional fights with 18 victories, six defeats and one draw. She is the Federkombat Italian champion at -52 kg and remains unbeaten in that weight category. Trained by Paolo Rossini of Yama Roma, she has also competed for One Championship in Bangkok.
The bout is part of the “Road To Japan” project, with both athletes aiming to earn an opportunity on the Japanese circuit. Should Di Dio Martello win, she could potentially move toward a future bout against ISKA world champion Mari Emoto.
